I'm about $340 poorer now, but come next week, I should be able to finally go for a run on some of the nearby mountain roads without massive brake fade. Ordered Hawk HPS pads all around, along with CQuence (side company of StopTech) Absolute dimpled and slotted silver zinc-coated rotors all around. I've already got a couple of quarts of DOT-4 high-temp brake fluid waiting. Overall, I'm excited.

Brake upgrades are always my favorite thing. It's the number one thing you notice when you mod your car, even if its as minimal as bleeding them.

Yeah, I'm really excited. I know the shocks, springs, and bushings are technically the 'bigger' upgrade, but I also see them being the most frustrating. The brakes, though, offer a low-frustration install with the maximum seat-of-pants payoff, lol.

I remember the first time I put slotted/drilled rotors on one of my cars. Oh my god light and day difference. It was glorious.

Sell the rotors back and get some braided brake lines. I guarantee it'll feel better than those rotors.

I need new rotors anyway and these were a really good price and had good reviews. Plus I already have braided lines. :-P

I'm running those pads and love them!
That said, they're doing something weird. When cold they howl. Similar sound to what sometimes happens after a car wash. Not sure what I did during the break-in period. Not a deal breaker though, still great.

I went from no name pads to stop techs on my saabaru and the feel was insane. Ya they're a bit more noisy, but they can now actually lock up the tires (for now til I get the v12's mounted). Best $100 I spent on my car, and I'm debating if my ///m should get the same treatment even though bmw still covers my brakes.

Did you follow the break-in instructions? I know a lot of people forget that part.

Actually didn't put them on myself. I usually do my own, but was having a bunch of things done by my mechanic so I had him do discs and pads too. Curious, what do they say? Can't be far different from run-of-the-mill pads, can they? Shims and anti-squeal compound?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
After installing new brake pads, make 6-to-10 stops from approximately 30-35 MPH applying moderate pressure.
Make an additional 2-to-3 hard stops from approximately 40-45 MPH.
DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!
Allow at least 15 minutes for the brake system to cool down.
After step 4 is completed, your new Hawk Performance brake pads are ready for use.

Thanks for taking the time to type that.
To be honest, next time I wouldn't change a thing. I know to not come to a complete stop and let the pads stop on the rotors, but to be honest...I've had mixed luck with break-ins. Ruined a few. Nothing worse than ruining something brand new.
I think you'll like these. Very clear feel when first contact is made, and a nice (not too hard) feel through the travel. I get almost no dust too. Can't report on life expectancy yet.

The no dust is nice to hear. I once had white wheels, but years of brake dust on them has obliterated the finish on them. I plan on PlastiDipping them back to white sometime soon and it's nice to know I'll not have to worry about them turning grey every few days.

Mixed bag on the net, but that's my experience.

What type of material is the pad made of. Are they ceramic or semi metallic.

Ferro-Carbon.
